Connect your first domain to a website

Find the active DNS settings, then compare each record with the platform’s instructions.

Find the DNS host

The company that sold you the domain is not necessarily hosting its active DNS zone. Review NS records and your account settings to identify the current provider. Editing a zone that is not being used by the delegation will not change public answers.

Match the platform’s requirements

Your site builder may require an A record at the apex, a www CNAME, or a TXT verification value. Match the type, name and target individually. Do not paste a complete web URL into a field that expects only a hostname.

Verify both layers

After saving, query the exact name and compare the answer. Then visit the website to check HTTPS and content. Correct DNS does not necessarily mean the platform has finished all of its domain binding or verification steps.
